"Palace of Fine Arts" is a breathtaking panoramic photograph capturing the grandeur and tranquility of one of San Francisco's most iconic landmarks. This ultra-high-quality image showcases the Roman and Greek-inspired architectural masterpiece, originally designed by Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Set against a crystal-clear blue sky, the photograph highlights the grand rotunda, intricate archways, and the peaceful reflective lagoon, creating a scene of elegance and serenity. The lush greenery, vibrant red and orange autumn foliage, and shimmering blue water enhance the composition, making it a stunning piece of fine art photography for those who appreciate both history and natural beauty. This roughly 270° panorama was taken in the morning as people relaxed, fed the ducks and enjoyed the beauty and sound of the fountain.Captured using a Seitz 220VR medium format film slit rotational panoramic camera and scanned at an incredible 176 megapixels, this print offers exceptional sharpness, clarity, and depth, allowing viewers to appreciate even the finest architectural and landscape details. The scanning slit rotational panoramic camera rotates as light records onto the internal rotating film drum. Depending on whether subjects are moving against or with the camera's rotation, people or objects may appear stretched or compressed. Also, in rotational panoramic photography, the phenomenon where straight horizontal lines appear curved is due to the cylindrical perspective inherent in this imaging technique. As the camera rotates, it captures a wide field of view, projecting the three-dimensional scene onto a two-dimensional plane. This projection causes horizontal lines, especially those above or below the lens axis, to curve inward or outward, while vertical lines remain straight. This effect is a natural consequence of mapping a wide-angle view onto a flat surface. This photograph was taken using medium format color negative film and scanned with a drum scanner, resulting in incredibly sharp detail. Perfect for home decor, office spaces, and collectors of fine art photography, this museum-quality print is available in canvas, face-mounted acrylic, metal, mural, and premium photo paper formats. Add a sophisticated and timeless statement piece to your space with this captivating portrayal of San Francisco’s rich cultural heritage. Custom sizes, including extra-large formats, are available.
